How to Organize a Crockpot Meal Party

Set the guidelines up front. Typically, each guest buys the ingredients for their recipe, comes with freezer bags and their own food preparation tools. Each gallon freezer bag should hold enough food to feed a family of four or five.

Tips for Crockpot Freezer Meal Parties

  • Keep the party small. It’s manageable to make four to six bags of food per person in one evening, but any more than that could get unwieldy. You’ll need space for each guest to fit around a kitchen table, so don’t invite more guests than you have seating for.
  • Bring a marker to write instructions on the outside of each freezer bag.
  • Make it fun and relaxed. Guests should choose whatever recipe interests them. The Internet is a great resource for crockpot freezer meal recipes.
  • Think beyond the crockpot. While slow cooker meals are handy, frozen casseroles and meals that can be grilled are a nice addition, too.
  • Having a stash of freezer meals is a life saver for busy moms. You could prepare all those meals on your own, but why not get together with friends to take the drudgery out of the prep work? You’ll be glad you did!

77 Healthy Crock-Pot Recipes

"Crazy schedules, long work hours, and tempting takeout menus make it tough to even think about cooking most nights during the week. Despite the inconvenience, firing up the stove or oven is almost always cheaper and healthier than ordering in or eating out. How about a compromise? Making dinner with a slow cooker — Crock-Pot is the go-to brand in the U.S. — is an easy way to get in all those vitamins and minerals without slaving over a hot stove for hours at a time. Most of these recipes involve mixing up ingredients and popping them into a slow cooker for a prescribed number of hours. Save even more time by starting some of these dishes overnight or first thing in the morning and reaping the delicious, healthy benefits later in the day."
